With the help of computer simulations and real lab testing, Scientists are continuously improving the existing solar cells.

New methods to make the existing solar cells more efficient by 50% have been discovered. The most efficient solar cell gives currently (no pun intended) is 45% output and that is extremely expensive to produce.

By using this new technology, cells produced will be more efficient and cost effective. At just 1% use of refined silicon, their cost effectiveness emerges. Refined silicon is quite costly and that should be noted.

Bringing clean and green energy on par with energy produced by fossil fuels is what scientists want to do.

Cost is one of the biggest hurdles they face. Most of the green energy has a longer break-even time & is quite expensive. Reducing the amount of extremely thin layers of silicon used in the solar cell is the answer.
